Status Report - HERO: Week of 01.03

Welcome to 2016! Sasuga Studios turned five years old on January 1st. As we enter our sixth year, not much has changed, really. We'll be pushing forward one step at a time as always.

Kuroto Residence: Lower Level

Before the holidays, work began on modeling the Kuroto Residence. The house is a mid-century modern design revamped for the 21st century. Think of it as the mid-century modern of the next century. The lower level is an open floor plan centered around the staircase to the upper level with a centrally located kitchen around which the rest of the living spaces revolve. One side of the building is partitioned off to contain the bath and toilet.

Kuroto Residence: Upper Level

The upper level is open in the middle so that light can enter the center of the building through a skylight. Four bedrooms surround the core, a master bedroom and three regular bedrooms, one for each sibling.

Kuroto Residence: Exterior

The exterior of the building is clad in a mix of stone and vertical siding. All of this is contained within a deceptively simple rectangular form. The glazing needs to be finished, as does the addition of the roof.
